During my time here, I’ve been proud of a school that remains true to the vision of our founders. They wished not only to create educational opportunities for their daughters, but to provide an education that would be truly progressive. Our pupils aim high, discover their talents, and develop a strong sense of responsibility. We also value individuality, celebrate diversity, and encourage independent thinking.
Withington is a caring and creative place where learning is truly valued and celebrated; where girls are nurtured and empowered; and where we’re constantly evolving and curious.
Headmistress: Mrs Sarah Haslam
Extra-Curricular: An extraordinary array of clubs and societies means there is something for everyone, from coding to garage band, photography to sign language and much more in between.
Enquiring minds can dig deeper into a subject that captures them and engage beyond the curriculum through our clubs. And of course, there is the opportunity to take the lead by joining a committee, running activities for younger pupils or by starting a new club or society.
Clubs meet at lunch time or after school and many of the school buses provide a late service to make taking part easy.
Performing Arts: There is the opportunity to learn a fantastic range of musical instruments, as well as singing, with our excellent team of peripatetic music teachers. Pupils can join the school orchestra, instrumental ensembles and choir, and one of the school’s legendary performances, either on stage or supporting with costumes, sound and lighting.
Sports: By providing inspiring teaching and high-level coaching, we carefully nurture all pupils, regardless of their ambition and experience, to find their sporting passion and maximise their potential.
PE is a core subject for all pupils and is a key part of our pupils’ school experience. A wide range of opportunities is offered to enable all girls to develop their skills and confidence, both within curriculum lessons and through the outstanding extra-curricular provision. Our aim is that there is something to inspire everyone, whether their interest is in performance sport, recreation or physical wellbeing.
Wellbeing & Pastoral Care: We want every girl to be happy and thrive here. Through our proactive Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education (PSHCE) programme, your daughter will learn about herself and the wider world.
